They already have Soros. In any case, it is simply impossible to win without making a moral or emotional case. Either works. To give an example of a winning campaign that was both power oriented and able to connect emotionally, see Barack Obama's "hope and change."
Republicans win because they are better at harnessing the emotions of their constituency. It is as simple as that. They get people like jimmyz pissed off and so people like jimmyz vote. Hillary lost because even when she was calling everybody a deplorable, she did it in a way that no regular person connected with. She couldn't effectively piss us off (well unless the anger was towards her unparalleled incompetence at campaigning). She also couldn't cconvince anyone of her morals. The Kavanaugh thing is another great example - the Democrats harnessed the rage of the #metoo movement, demonstrated in front of the country how unqualified the nominee was AND invigorated their base.
Knowing that the only way Democrats win is when turnout is high, it is plainly obvious that motivating voters emotionally or morally is absolutely crucial.
