I was joking about the defeatism, which I thought you'd pick up on considering that my post is the essence of defeatism.
Anyways, you're right that they don't have to alter the Constitution - they can just have their lackeys on the SC interpret it in a favourable way. The entire reason why his strategy is viable long-term is because the tactics - voter suppression, gerrymandering, controlling the courts and states, etc. - provide intrinsic benefits, while also accruing progress towards the larger strategic goal.
You can try stacking the Courts. Next time they are in power, they'll do the same thing. You can try flipping red or purple governorships, but that is hard for the reasons mentioned above. Perhaps the easiest thing to do is embrace states rights for blue states, while forming alternative power centers to Washington and obstructing like hell. For instance, New York, Cali, etc. could all agree on a subnational healthcare insurance plan. Use lawsuits to bog down everything you can. Whatever you decide to do, it is going to require rebuilding the DNC into a grassroots organization that does real political organizing instead of Beyonce concerts.
