Both England and Canada have no duty to retreat anywhere, private or public. You have to go to places like Minnesota for duty to retreat in public

Well again... I don't think any person could reasonably interpret that video as standing their ground, because he wasn't being threatened. The man was stealing from him, but we have police. It does not give you license to execute people for any infraction, it gives a positive defense for your actions when used in self defense.

It eliminates the duty to retreat when being physically threatened, yes. But some sort of standard to avoid further escalation must exist. If it doesn't, you're correct, and the law is worse than I imagined.
