Note how, in the article above, there is precisely one example given, involving exactly two people. The total impact on society was annoying everyone in that email chain, and the total reach was - prior to this article - limited to a small number of students attending an academic institution.

And yet there is a lengthy opinion piece detailing the exchange in a reputable national news organization.
