Sounds like D&D are getting a Star Wars trilogy. Honestly, it might be more their speed. I just got caught up on this thing...the ending was a bit of a splat but nowhere near as bad as the nerds on youtube were literally crying about.
The biggest disappointment for me was that Jaime and Cersei were killed senselessly by falling bricks. Should have been more of a character moment after 7 years. As in, Cersei should have been on the verge of doing something truly heinous, and Jaime, in Kingslayer fashion, should have killed her. He should have finally realized how unredeemable they both were...but instead of wallowing in it with her he should have killed her and himself died slumped over her corpse in a pool of fraternal twin blood all Shakespeare-ish. Cersei should have had a final moment of self-awareness and regret, and Jaime's years-long character rehabilitation should have had a real payoff. There was room for legit tragedy/too little too late redemption there...but instead...falling bricks.
But, of course, we can't steal thunder from that one Targ knifing the other Targ.
I liked the duel between Clegane and was-Clegane.
The final political resolution made no sense. The North breaking away, sure. How are they really going to stop them? Then again...the crown is basically toothless and couldn't stop anyone, particularly Dorne, from doing the same.
