Anyways, I realize that it isn't fair to point out how somebody is butchering the English language, without also providing constructive advice.
When the Teflon Don was going after Canada, I think it would be more reasonable to say I was pearl-clutching... but then again, there was nothing over-exaggerated by my shock that we were being harmed for no good reason, in addition to being declared a national security threat. So again, not really accurate, but nonetheless a better use of the word.
A better word to describe my reaction to the Trump Presidency is bemusement. The definition is this:
1. To bewilder or confuse.
2. To preoccupy; engross.
3. To cause to be mildly amused, especially in a detached way.
The only issue I take with the word is the second part of the definition, because I'm not currently engrossed with Trump, as our national elections are in full-swing and it has been a... special campaign season. Some definitions of the word instead refer "to distract," and I think that is a more apt description. The Trump Presidency is a distraction to me. I never use Twitter but I still like heading over there and reading his shitposts, because they are funny.
