It's actually open border without hindrance by treaty from lake superior to lake of the woods. it's so you can navigate the water ways without worrying about which side of the border you're on
eh, i dunno. sometimes i think i should look at property north of the border, but i would be pissed right now if i couldn't get to my cabin if it was in ontario
plus i'm equipped for a siege here. i've got supplies to last for a long time, guns, ammo, and solar panels will be installed soon, just waiting on some paperwork
