the legit criticism of the bubble is more along the lines of forcing athletes to prison rather than putting them into a petri dish. four weeks, thousands of tests, no positives. i will say the bubble is permeable, by auxillary staff (eg cooks), but it can still be done in a smart way to keep er moving

so if the bubble holds you'll praise bettman as the greatest NHL commissioner ever and if it fails i'll join you in demanding his head? i agree that MLB has shit the bed worse than the leafs, but the NHL, NBA, MLS, and WNBA have done a great job. NFL is headed for disaster as well, I agree, but praise the bubble

The only praise Bettman should ever receive is if manages not to piss himself while being hung until dead.

Allowing these leagues to return, and giving them special exemptions from quarantine controls, and even going so far as carving out special exemptions for border crossings, is of course absolutely insane, and just another risk and liability that society has taken on so meatheads don't start rioting and killing one another due to opium withdrawal.

In any case, I'm hoping the bubble holds. God willing, the standards are not relaxed as time passes and people become accustomed to it. But everything about sports returning is bizarrely insane, and the mystical way you talk about sports as a great unifier is equally as bizarre, and there is just no good way of avoiding this conclusion. It's a f**k game, not a religion, and about the only thing I would endorse is using the absence of sports as a motivator for getting people to comply with social distancing measures. Everything else about it is absolutely f**k disgraceful, forcing athletes into hotels/prisons to play for our amusement in front of lifeless and dead arenas, getting tested every single day, lol. What is this shit. How can you watch it? It's the most depressing thing I've ever seen.
