I mean it's de facto dead on arrival. It's outlawed in China. How would the central banks swap funds? How would the US government issue bonds? Think about it...when you buy a bond you're buying security. Low risk low yield.

Tightening its grip on international finance, and attempting to stem the growth of other crypto, appears to be the only rationale that I'm aware of. There is no other financial reason for doing these things.
