it's your own premise, that the only reason to build weapons with offensive capabilities is that you plan on invading people.

There is nothing wrong with offensive weapons or going on the offense. I never said it means anyone is PLANNING on doing anything, I just asked a question about China no one can answer.
We have fighter jets because we do conduct operations on other countries soil. So the question is, whose soil is China going to conduct operations on? They don't need a stealth fighter. We need it if we wish to remain number 1. If china has plans on being number 1, then they would need it. China wants to be number 1, they want to be seen as a big dog on the block. Right now, they are not.
THAT'S why. Not because they wish to invade anyone, other than their neighbor, Taiwan.
