Maybe get mythbusters to test it, if you want that degree of scientific accuracy.
But in fairness, they tested it in about the same conditions and out of the three methods both would have failed the last, and the iPhone passed the first two unlike the Samsung.
I've only dropped my iPhone onto a hard surface once, and it only sustained a minor crack accross the front corner. It was in its case, I should mention.

Well they didn't patent a rectangle with rounded corners so your point is moot

Nope. You're 100% right. Nokia, HTC, LG, Motorola, Google, etc... Their phones with the rounded corners are about to be banned. Nobody will ever make a round cornered rectangular phone ever again because that's what the patent is. Damn you Apple for patenting shapes and the courts of the United States upholding those patents.
