Yeah the issue here now is that companies are essentially able to limit resale of products, whether digital or hard copy, by claiming it violates copyright.
It's really no different than Apple suing you for reselling your iPhone, or if you purchased a DVD and sold it to somebody at a garage sale, you're denying that company entitlement to future profit (which of course doesn't exist)
