Why have a poll? The market has spoken.
Lawyers - 2010 Median Pay $112,760 per year
Truck Driver - 2010 Median Pay $55,000 per year
But seriously, without truckers we would have to use more trains? God forbid we use a more efficient and less environmentally damaging form of transportation. And lets be honest, some google app will make your job 100% redundant in my lifetime.
Lawyers? You can't have a functioning society based on the rule of law without lawyers. Quite simply anything more than an extremely basic and feeble state requires a professional class to understand, interpret, and uphold the law as it is. Without lawyers any tyrant could abuse their power and the people would have little recourse in terms of the law. There is a reason lawyers are at the for front of almost every serious political movement in developed societies.
That of course, is why society pays lawyers twice as much. Because as important as trucking is (its not like most people can drive or anything), lawyers provide a valuable and difficult service that ensures the rule of law and justice for the citizens.
