better than empire, yeah. but medieval simply had too many varied units and tactics to be similar(although the campaign map was much more boring). i think the biggest mistake of shogun 2 was the prevalence of bowmen(kind of hard to avoid though considering that's how japan fought). it was like empires line formations shooting at eachother but with bows.

Very cool concept. I like the experimental indie game thing. This was overrated IMO. Not even close to a win on the scale of Journey.

Just got Natural selection 2. Great game that takes a lot of features from NS1 and improves on them. Best way to describe the game would be a game of starcraft, where the units are playable in fps, whilst you have the guy commanding each side. Aliens have to spread an infestation, marines have to get the power back on in various areas and beat it back. Very clear, requires many of the thinkings..... but currently hideously optimised (im just 2 gfx cards down 430 to 450 shy of the Rec spec and it runs v. poorly). I'm one of about 4/5 steam users who can't play it properly (lots of lag in combat, in a melee focused game, uh ohs. I am disapoint :/).
