Question about this alpha/beta thing:

Beta is basically like 2nd place right? So if you're the second most successful person in your field, does that make you beta?

Is beta potentially better than alpha depending on context? Would it be better to be beta in a vastly superior organization than to be alpha in a wack organization? For example, wouldn't you rather be vice president of the united states than run some worthless third world shithole country?

Alpha is the man with the most females wanting them. Simple as that. It all boils down to procreation. The alpha male is the one who gets to choose which bitch (canine term) he wants to bang tonight.

Is Brad Pitt more alpha than Gates? Sure. But, is Gates more alpha than most of us? Yup.

Think of it like this. Some guy walks into (insert random social setting here). The better your chances of walking up to any female and hitting it off, the more alpha you are. If you have a Ferrari outside and act like you own the place (because you actually own it), your chances are better than that good looking (but broke) construction worker at the end of the bar.
