So let me clear this up here, so I can learn to become stylish and uber-cool like Darkhorse.
You have noticed more people who are trendy wearing fedoras. Therefore, fedoras are "in style."
Everyone has noticed more people wearing pea coats. Therefore, pea coats are not in style.
Now at first glance this doesn't make alot of sense.
But then I realized that when you guys were talking about what is "in style," you aren't talking about what people wear, you are really talking about who wears it. So a fedora is "stylish" because "trendy people" wear one.
Thus, the argument that pea coats aren't stylish is, of course, absurd - lots of very "stylish" people wear them, and they get their photos taken, and then you and Darkhorse run out to Macy's, or even better, a specialty boutique, buy the stylish item, than wear it until it is "unstylish," which seems to be some arbitrary state of being that neither of you care to elaborate much on.
The reason why certain pieces of clothing become "classic" is that they never go out of style. But thanks guys. It's nice to know that fashion, according to fashionistas, is an expensive game of Monkey See, Monkey Do.
