I feel like when people talk about "style", they're almost always talking about a pretty specific subculture. Not style as a general idea, but style as in the fashion world. Which is insane. Everytime I read GQ magazine all I can think is how ridiculous a regular person would look actually walking around the streets in some of the crazy shit they show off as "style" in that thing. They might as well be wearing clown suits. But I can also step back and realize that's just my subjective opinion. Where I come from, "style" is a screenprinted t-shirt or a polo shirt, dickie shorts, retro jordans and gold versace sunglasses, and that literally hasn't changed in 20 years. I'm not saying that is or is not stylish, I don't much dress like that anymore as an adult, but if some faggy british dude played by Colin Firth came to my old neighborhood and tried to tell some hoover crips and hardhead mexicans to spruce up their winter look with a tweed pocket square, he'd probably get stabbed in the kidney. So we're not talking about some universally accepted sense of style here. No such thing exists. Some of you guys just happen to buy into that specific fashion subculture and adopt their version of style, in which we're supposed to believe that actual real people wear boat shoes and vests to camping trips, or whatever other first-4-minutes-of-a-gay-porno scenario they set up for those photo shoots this month.
