I would add that there's also a sharp contrast between the latitude given to Israel and the limits of "deemed tolerable" behaviour from Iran. On the one hand, a comment like "wipe Israel off the map" has the west and Israel hand ringing and generally pooping in their shorts and is completely intolerable... and they more than likely do not even have a functioning nuclear warhead as yet. On the other hand, we have a nuclear armed Israel not only making very real threats of aggression towards Iran (and a history aggression in the region), but also attempting to get the west to join in said aggression... this is apparently fine and barely worthy of criticism in most quarters and even in the few instances it does receive criticism, the idea that Israel should be subject to similar sanctions to encourage them to back away from an aggressive course would be received with derision, even laughter. Yet if one is to be objective, Israel are the more threatening and potentially far more destructive of the two adversaries.
