Cooperation>competition.

I don't see why competition is seen as useful, it's nothing but an objective waste of resources to cater to the ego of the individuals who hold the economy under their control. Don't try to act like job skill is valued by capitalists. Skilled workers are actually looked at as detrimental. They want an interchangeable cog, not a highly skilled worker that has to be paid a lot and who is difficult to replace, in order to maximize profits. That is why mass manufacturing has all but totally replaced skilled manufacture by a craftsman. There's no system to even produce craftsmen anymore. The only ones that exist are self taught hobbyists or preservationists.

If you want a society where individual skill matters you are going to have to get rid of capitalism. It's purpose is to destroy anything that isn't profit oriented to make way for profitable activity. And skilled craftsmanship is not profitable. Most thing that are worthwhile aren't.

A framework of competition allows for the existence of cooperation, whereas a framework of cooperation does not allow competition.

When talking about how economies should be organized, it is best to allow people of all inclinations and personalities to have something that interests them. Harmony and buttercups is all well and good, until it falls into the same trap capitalism has - namely, being built up to prefer manic growth, consumerism, etc. at the cost of all other things. In your case, it would be harmony over creativity and the drive to do better for yourself, and not society as a whole. We need a system that accommodates both.

Assigning byproducts of capitalist society such as consumerism and manic growth to socialism is patently ridiculous. And As I just pointed out capitalism squelches creativity it doesn't enhance it in any way. If anything it cheapens the quality of the thinking behind creativity because of profit motive. It is well known that as soon as money guys get a hold of any creative project they are going to do their dead level best to turn art into formulaic slop so get out of here with that tired apology. There is no basis for it.

Do people go to museums to see famous works of corporate art? lol
