A plurality, not a majority, voted for statehood in a non-binding resolution. Pretty weak.

"Puerto Ricans were asked about their desires in two parts. First, by a 54% to 46% margin, voters rejected their current status as a U.S. commonwealth. In a separate question, 61% chose statehood as the alternative, compared with 33% for the semi-autonomous "sovereign free association" and 6% for outright independence."
54% voted for a change in their status and a majority of them voted for statehood.
it being non-binding just means that there wasn't an official declaration of statehood sent to congress on november 7th.
you still haven't given any evidence as to why it won't happen. remember, your'e making a definitive assertion here. there is no "maybe". prove it won't happen.

and if a large percentage of people in a state vote for their senators and congressmen and leave the presidential field blank it doesn't invalidate the election of whoever becomes president. so that's pretty much a useless metric.

It was a nonbinding resolution, so to compare it to a binding vote on candidates is misleading and irrelevant.

it doesn't matter if it was non-binding. people not voting doesn't invalidate.

not voting doesn't matter. period. end of discussion.
1. they're already part of our democracy. they have citizenship and half of puerto ricans live in the US
