These conversations need to be had sans dilluded constitutionalism. The founders created the constitution, and made the compromises that they made, based on the current political atmosphere. We wouldn't kick gay marriage down the road 20 years because it's strategically convenient to carry southern states in the election. They did it with slavery so that they had more than 8 states to make a union out of. They had to concern themselves with protecting self-governance because they had monarchies to reject. We don't.

Update: secession signatures reach 657,000 and all 50 states are now in it. So who do we secede from? The Gubmint.

It amuses me that the Republicans' most recent failure has exposed so many on the far right as whiny little crybabies. Maybe they won't feel so bad about being losers after they've been breastfed and put down for a nap. I'm okay if they do, though.

Austin submitted a petition to secede from Texas if Texas seceded lol.

Basically Austin, Georgetown, San Antonio, Dallas, and Denton would all remain part of the U.S. The neo-cons can keep Houston.
