NFL 2012-2013 Season

It's only the preseason but so far the Jets offense looks so bad I doubt they'll win 7 games.. They have one very bad backup QB, a below average starting QB, and an offensive line that can't protect either one.. Add in the lack of any kind of receiver or running back who's a game breaker, and that tells me in a passing/scoring league the Jets will have big time trouble scoring. 10 years ago you could win with just a good/great defensive team.. Nowadays you need at least a little bit of offense.. I don't see the Jets having any offense.

And I watched some of the Bronco game tonight.. Again, it's only preseason but Peyton looked like his old self.. So if he stays healthy..................................... The Broncos will be dangerous.

Yeah, I'll concede the Jets are a stretch. I wasn't picking them because I thought they were that good, just that the rest of the conference is that bad. On second thought, Jets aren't gonna make it.

I will stick by my prediction about Denver. In case you missed it, I had to go back and correct my previous post because I put Indy as a wildcard cause I brainfarted about Peyton. Chargers and Broncos will be in the playoffs.

Don't think the Giants will repeat, though it's certainly possible. As an Eagles fan, I guess I have a bias, but I don't mean to say they aren't a solid team because they obviously are. But one thing I will stand by is that Eli Manning is not a great quarterback. He's a not-great quarterback who has already won two superbowls when he was way out of his league even being there in the first place. I suppose that happens. But I don't see it happening three times. I don't see lightning striking the same place three times. Eli is already playing with house money and his overall career shows him to be an OK quarterback, but not the kind who wins three rings. Now I understand many will brush all of this aside and say he's a "win when it counts" type of guy, but I've never believed such types exist. The Superbowl may be a beast of it's own, as so many say, but at the end of the day, it's still four 15 minute quarters of NFL Football with NFL rules, and while Eli could bring home a third ring, it would require some of the greatest luck of all time.

One thing I learned is never to put any stock in preseason, the Lions a few years ago went undefeated in preseason and ended up losing every game in the regular season, I think we ought to know by week 3-4 who will be the contenders by then.

As for predictions, I can only offer my own thoughts on the NFC North: If the Bear OL can keep Cutler upright they have a good chance iof unseating the Packers for the division, I dont think the Lions will be great this year and the Vikings are still in rebuild mode.

I don't think the Giants will repeat either. Everything had to break right for them last year, I don't see that happening again this year.

There's no doubt the Giants are a good, solid team.. I wouldn't pick against them..

BUT the NFC is a tough conference. The Packers will again be one of the elites, the Bears should be better.. The 49'ers and Saints are damn good.. In the East I think the Eagles have to be watched.. Of course the Eagles need to keep Vick healthy, but I doubt he will stay healthy, he never does. Washington will be better.

The AFC's not as strong as the NFC, but it's just as confusing. Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, Pats, Texans, and on and on... Can't really make any picks until we see them play a few games, and see who stays healthy, and who doesn't.
