i don't understand why they would bring back vader. luke's adventures after the last movie, where he turns to the dark side to trick the emperor and destroy the remnant forces, are f**k awesome.

OR! an admiral thrawn movie

OR! an old republic movie

OR! literally anything else because there are tens of thousands of hours worth of movies in the extended universe

For the billionth time, because Darth Vader is fun and a kids movies will be more concerned with fun than continuity or plot integrity.

but darth vader isn't fun. he's a static character who is dead. irrevocably dead. you saw him burn at the end of the final movie.

Secondly, they aren't going to target children exclusively. that would be retarded from a marketing standpoint. absolutely stupid and a waste of 4 billion dollars on disney's part.

They have fully grown adults with jobs and in some cases families losing their shit over jar jar binks and wtf is disney going to do to our beloved series. They only got this kind of obsessive audience by hooking these people as kids. I don't know anyone who gives half a shit about the series or its future who became a fan after adolescence.

All you die-hard fans will go to see the new movie anyway, and you'll f**k hate it but you'll still go see it. And then the 8 year old sitting across the aisle from you will bitch and moan when episode 15 comes out in 20 years....but he'll go see it anyway.

thrawn is probably the most popular saga in the extended universe....sigh

i'm optimistic disney won't f**k this up. i mean, with taking it out of lucas' hands i feel like things can only go up. but their insistence on an original story...blehhh. realistically it will probably be terrible. i agree a reboot is the only way to salvage the series at this point.

Really, the Thrawn Trilogy is what got me started reading books as a kid. When your that young the last thing you want to do is sit around and read...but I had to know what happened next. Awesome teacher loaned me her copies. Those three books really were pretty significant in my life...sent me down the bookworm path instead of the nerf football path.

Damn its been 20 years. I should probably read those again.
