there is one british place i know of in the twin cities. there's more irish places, although they have similar food. they'res way way more mexican, italian, chinese, thai, japanese etc places

the british place (brit's) is cool because it's a massive three story pub and has lawn bowling, not because of the food. they have tetley's and boddington's and sameul smith's on tap though, among others

but the point is, there's the one

Yeah lets look at the number of British "cuisine" places as opposed to Italian, French, German, Mexican/TexMex, Chinese, Japanese, etc.

I think Dallas has ONE British place that isn't a bar. Maybe one. How many big time British cuisine places are there in say, New York?

Full English breakfast is good- except for the beans. I was shocked when I ordered it the first time at a hotel in London and the plate came with beans. From then on everytime I order a full English breaky I always insist they hold the beans.

On the other hand if I eat Tex-Mex then I gotta have a side of refried beans.

I like eating beans- fabada austuriana is an excellent Spanish bean stew but canned beans shouldnt be part of some country's national dish.

Well, thing is I think you'd find a lot of 'traditional' British foods being eaten as mums own cooking. For example our love of LARGE AMOUNTS OF BEEF A LOT, used to be fairly unique. Now its not.

but yeah, specifically various hot pots and pies of sorts spring to mind.

In terms of modern cuisine, its probably the absolutely vast amounts of curry we eat. Which is quite unlike anything they actually used to eat in India. great triumph of multiculturalism that. Though despite Mexican and Chinese food being big, surprisingly I hear 'Indian' food is not in america. Strikes me as odd.

And as per this thread, don't we have more cheeses than france?
