Look, way back 100+ years ago during a very different era of baseball, the curveball was invented, and the initial reaction to it was that it was "cheap" and "unsportsmanlike" for the pitcher to throw the ball in a way that would make it hard for the batter to hit. Today, it's the pitcher's job to throw the ball in a way that is hard for the batter to hit, and frankly the modern sport wouldn't survive if this were not the case.
