you said that voter id was "off topic" ergo it isn't voter suppression and sorry, it needed a comma or something. jim crow currently does not exist.

as for the final thing i was checking out your link, which was, outside of like jim crow (which is long gone) and voter id (which you said isn't voter suppression) is encouraging people not to vote (which is their choice and not voter suppression anymore than encouraging people to vote for a different voter is)

my argument is: of what i know to be termed "voter suppression" (which is: encouraging people to not vote), it's not suppression anymore than encouraging people to vote for someone else is. that would be like saying democrats in telling women to not worry their pretty little heads about real issues -- birth control availability is under attack if democrats are not elected -- is voter suppression

i don't know what it is (you sent me to a link then denied what was in it is what we're talking about?) so i can't say for certainty. but what i know of it, yes, it's monster under your bed

indy, what is the definition? you sent me to a link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_suppression , that said it's possibly voter id (which i would argue it certainly is not: votes are not being "suppressed" across the western world, but be that as it may, you said it was off topic ergo not voter suppression anyway (i agree it is not)), jim crow (which is long gone), and telling people not to vote (which is a choice, not voter suppression)

To "supress" something is to force something down against its will. In this case, "voter supression" is to make it harder for people who want to vote, to cast a vote.

Taking away someone's reason to vote is another matter entirely.
