I should note often "homemaking" is a temporary state of affairs. I.E. the woman has a career, takes care of the kids during their formative years until they reach schooling age, and promptly returns to the work force.

Oh, I think plenty have given off that vibe. Saz has 180'd so hard he may have actually given himself a concussion.
Bottom line is that this is all about choice. Women are uniquely empowered to choose either route, or both. Men, not so much. If people were saying women should be "servile" because they are women, that would be one thing. But I haven't been seeing that. This has been about women choosing one path or another, and some men finding one or the other more or less attractive on a case by case basis.
When I start hearing homemaking equated with submission or servitude red lights start turning on.
