I get the impression we're expected to kowtow.

I mean, MS is dominant in the OS and office software segments, but I don't make a big thing about it, or demand others to. I just buy my copy of their stuff if I like it when it comes time to build a new computer. Google is dominant in a lot of ways on the web, and is dominant in mobile OS and such...but I don't make a big thing of it.

I don't do this, "COMPANY X IS THE DOMINANT, AMAZING, STUPENDOUS BLA BLA BLA AND YOU HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT! YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OFFERING!" thing.

I just don't give a damn, but I think its fun to make fun of others when they freak out and start actually cheerleading for a corporation. Apple has actually built a fandom. Its...weird.

I own an ipad. Its a neat device, if a little claustrophobic feeling, but I knew I'd be relatively limited going in. I just wanted the fancy display. I guess it turns out that there isn't some kind of drug that gets absorbed through the skin sprayed onto the packaging that turns a guy into the consumer electronics analogue of a trekkie. I don't have particularly strong feelings about the product either way.

I almost feel gipped.
