Egypt highlights the problem of thinking you can bring democracy by simply ousting the old guy. Democracy doesn't work unless you disagree only on the unimportant stuff.
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

this might be a boon for the liberal parties. the runner up of the last election, shafik, was well and truly f**k for being part of the mubarak government yet he still received 48 percent of the vote. with morsi's little tantrum and power grab you might see him ousted, a new round of elections, and a non-islamist in power.

Would be nice if, assuming a new round of elections, this time the old Mubarak guard military didn't patrol polling stations with machine guns, video cameras and helicopters. That way the election results might better reflect actual popular opinion.

I for one am just astounded how Morsi or the Muslim Brotherhood as a whole though they could get away with this. I don't imagine this is going to go away.
