Yeap, there at it again. Trying to basically throw out any pretense of being more than a giant data mining activity now with a 'vote' to change the rules (ooh democratic, the bit where there will be no more votes, especially) so that their ' Data Use Policy' basically means your entire interaction with the site can be monetized as they want, however they want.

At this point I think FB is just a bit f**k up and I'll be actively looking for alternatives. Nor is this vote likely to stop them, as I imagine they realize they need to improve their failing revenue stream.

Still, don't forget to call Zukerberg a bastard.

I think your concerns are valid.

But what is important to recognize is that Facebook is just a giant database, and people are willfully putting incredibly sensitive information into that database, which is, in the end, owned by a private corporation.

Now you can attack their means of doing business, but I don't think anyone, at this point, wasn't aware that Facebook is a for-profit enterprise, and that they deal in personal information. It is basically the world's most expansive means of demographic-targeted marketing, and most people are perfectly fine with no-privacy, as evidenced by the fact that they are making highly personal information public.
