Well, I haven't had any serious problems with this. There is no excuse for it to run as badly as it does, considering the kinds of textures and geometry being used, but I guess they can optimize it a bit.
I was able to run @ 1920x1200 with everything maxed but motion blur and stay mostly in the 30 FPS range, with dips into the 20's when shit gets srs. Honestly, it should be running at over 50 FPS, but I think this is barely out of beta. If I start dialing things back I get get it to bump into the v-sync at that resolution. And like I said, I'm running a 5870, which is two entire hardware generations ago. So its not that bad.
I do really dig how majorly epic battles seem to form organically....tanks blazing away at shit, planes straffing shit, people running around all over the place. We had a very long fight in this little valley (choke point, like Thermopylae) that went on and on, was actually pretty damn fun. Then the sun set and it turned into a really rather cool light show, with munitions flying though this thing in a steady stream, and crossfire from people trying to flank, rather that simply jump out of the trench over and over and get mowed down by the same maxim gun, so to speak.
The game needs a lot of work, but I was pretty awed at some the scale. Interesting stuff.
