an example would be the reintroduction of wolves to yellowstone. by decreasing the elk population and making them fear the wolves, they no longer eat near the water all the succulent little trees. as a result, beavers have returned to the park (among other things). okay, see i get that, but what value is that, other than tourism

Humanity is not an island. It cannot exist in complete isolation from the natural world. Anything that happens there affects humanity as well. Attempting to do so is dysfunctional, destructive behavior as the damage to the environment clearly shows.
