i'm not backing away from anything i just never said anything about lowering standards. i don't judge a fiction and non-fiction book similarly. likewise i don't judge a childrens movie and an adult movie similarly. certain genres are attempting to do certain things. to judge them all by the same standard is just asinine.

CGI can get very old in some movies if it's not done tastefully. if it's done poorly then it kind of takes you out the film. like those REALLY cheesy monster films from the 50s

i didn't say his acting wasn't good. i just said at the end of the day it was still a comic book movie.

not sure how you could judge a non-fiction batman book.

but yes, you should judge wildly different genres differently. would the "message" of 300 changed if leonidas was a bit more campy or a bit more sour? if his acting was a tad off? not really. would it matter if the same were true of a movie like....oh i don't know...der untergang? yes, definitely.

why is that? because both movies are of a different genre and are going for two entirely different things. judging them both by the same criteria makes no sense.
