Guns kill people like cars kill people. If anything, I think teachers should carry. Imagine if that gunman had walked in and began shooting and then realized every damn teacher was packing heat? I bet we'd have fewer kids dead.
Where is the outrage at cars? They kill 50,000 a year if you use this logic. Why not ban cars?

Obama has been a pretty big advocate of gun control. I don't know why you think it's disrespectful of him to not suddenly make a public statement about his views on the same day. What if George Bush's first speech on Sept. 11 was about arming airplane passengers? It would be viewed as incredibly distasteful and just hurt whatever viewpoint a politician has. Most people are moderates on gun rights.
