The fact that anyone is even seriously talking about a "well regulated militia" in 2012 proves beyond any shadow of a doubt how anachronistic and irrelevant the 2nd amendment really is. There is simply no place for militias within the modern United States, just as there are is no longer a place for horse mounted posses. You people watch too much television and too many Cowboy movies. Let's get a grip and come back down to Earth and reality please.

I'd be fine with repealing it. Won't happen though.
I'd replace it with a dense web of regulations that makes gun ownership very difficult and fraught with legal risks, including home run sentences for people who fail to properly secure their weapons and let their disturbed children commandeer the to murder kindergartners. In my world if that kids mom had lived she would spend the rest of her days in prison.
