like lucas, roddenberry's general idea was good but it was better if he was kept away.
the first season of next generation was all roddenberry. the ferengi as evil capitalists instead of fun loving capitalists was his idea. he had an obsession with sex (the naked now episode where data gets laid, terrible episode, like all of season 1) but as roddenberry's health declinded by season 3 he wasn't really involved. the episode "the best of both worlds" is the end of roddenberry and beginning of pillar/berman era and it produced much better star trek (best of both worlds is the 2part with Locutus of Borg). plus they got better outfits once roddenberry was gone. he had the relaxed look of no collar. just doesn't seem right, necks without collars. especially military officers
