Thing is, there are states in the US that have strict gun laws that have varying degrees of gun murders.
One correlation you can find within these states for the ones that have low crime and those with high crime is the amount of poor people in them.
States in general that have wealthier citizens overall have less crime, regardless of how strict or relaxed their gun laws are.

And in turn, countries like Switzerland, which place guns in the homes of it's citizens, have comparably low gun violence.
