Let's look at the issue in rational terms.
A guy going nuts and shooting up a mall is a tragedy, but in actual, relative terms it is statistically irrelevant as a cause of death. There are far more dangerous activities that we take completely for granted or completely ignore. To suggest we change our entire way of life to deal with what is basically a statistical anomaly is quite frankly irrational. A completely overwrought reaction that is being pushed by the supporters of a particular political viewpoint.
In other words this drive to repeal the right of the individual to defend his personal integrity and property is a completely political, internally derived attack on the US Constitution and should be viewed as such by the voter.
