Well, Winchester, I don't have any interest in owning a gun, but as a fellow American I can definitely appreciate the mental process of rationalizing a pleasure purchase.

That was my careful assessment. Doesn't mean they definitely won't pass gun restrictions. It just acknowledges the difficulties involved, especially the longer it takes to get a bill before Congress.

Yeah I think by january much of the momentum will be gone, though if they're smart the gun control advocates should be pressing every member of congress to publicly express a position on all of the planned proposals right now, so they have to deal with the pressure now or backpedal later.

Whether or not a bill of any significance will get passed is an open question, but I don't think the momentum will be lost.
