people are empathetic and care about people in their group. people have varying degrees as to how far they will care in their varying groups (be it their family, church, town, alma mater, state, nation, etc). conservatives are often billed "heartless". it's not that they dont care its that they don't give out support freely. and why should you, you care about your group, not other groups. other groups are competition, threats to your very survival
