Sure it has more guns than a school, but for an enlisted man to get one would not be easy. Even an officer would have a hard time getting a gun. There may be a lot of guns, but not a lot of access and the proximity of the range has no bearing.
You would need to know more about military procedure.
A friend of mine had a cap and ball .44 on Ft. Bragg. But it was always locked in his trunk and we never got checked going in or out. That was `1968 -69. Have no idea what procedure is like these days. But I'm betting it's tight.
