Not that this example currently applies to foriegn governments, but certainly does to domestic ones as we have the NDAA and many other physical and paper indications to support this notion. Yea i know, Godwins law,... get over it.
Hitler had the most advanced fighting force, by a wide margin, on the planet in the early years of WWII. Rolling over any military that stood in his way, yet he went around a small country in size and population. A country filled to the brim with gold and other valuables stored away along with a wealth of other resources that would strengthened his grip.
Its not as if he didnt want to....
In 1943, Hitler called the Swiss "the most despicable and wretched people, mortal enemies of the new Germany."
In 1943, with reference to Europe's small nations, including Switzerland, Hitler stated that "all the rubbish of small nations still existing in Europe must be liquidated as fast as possible..."
Also in 1943, Hitler boasted that he would be the "Butcher of the Swiss."
Its that he couldnt, mountainous environment with a well equipped citizen militia.
