I thought it was clear i was being sarcastic with the latter point.
There is a difference between desiring invasions to benefit the US versus desiring that we only involve ourselves where some benefit will accrue to us. I generally adhere to the latter (though not always) and I almost always reject the former.
As to how NATO is beneficial--see, e.g., Cold War, 1946-1991.
