People need to feel like they're doing something. Even if it doesn't actually accomplish anything other than creating an illusion of action, it still soothes. We need to step back and think rationally.

And CC, I was talking about where you specifically mentioned certain "types" with regard to the ban. I'm just pointing out how counterproductive it is.

One thing about all this talk of banning these rifles over the last 20 years, and even banning them in truth...all that has really been accomplished is to proliferate them extremely.

They started out as less than a niche...but then people started with bans and publicizing it all over the place...and now there are millions of the things. Want people to irrationally desire something? Tell them they can't have it.

Give Indians guns so it can be like Saddam era Iraq were everyone was free and rape was rare. And the fact that Iraq had so many guns also prevented a Japanese invasion.

Then fine. Discuss assault weapons. Don't f**k find some story about a total gun ban and act like this is a response to the assault weapon discussion. Just today, some asshat on my Facebook (I love the guy, but WTF anymore?) posts some article about a shooting in a theater in Austin where an off-duty officer pulled her revolver and killed the guy saying...seee...seeeeeee????!!!! Ok, that's great... no one is trying to take away officers' guns, nor trying to tak anyone else's revolvers. I'm getting to the breaking point with all this strawman on this discussion. Is the argument so shaky that they can't friggin argue for the preservation of assault weapons or something?
