By rebirth of antiquity are you meaning one that emphasizes classics, literacy, and philosophy?
I think one of the most staggering issues is a lack of education in computing. So many new jobs expect graduates to at least be familiar with spreadsheets, HTML, and basic web design. All of this talk about a technical pathway is well-intended, and I think it's a fair approach if it's implemented for juniors and seniors (not at middle school), but knowledge about computing would definitely be an improvement for many.
