Many of the West and East Coat guys here like to soak up their own tears by bashing the state of Texas because they know their state of residence sucks. I devote this thread to a recognition of one of the best contributors to the modern union. The only red state that doesn't suck on the fed teet.

We'll start with real estate. In Texas, it's possible to afford a house like this for $250,000 whereas the same house in Massachusetts, New York, California, Florida, or New Jersey would cost at least 3-4x as much.

Texas is one of those places I'd probably really like if not for Texans feeling the need to go on about its (imaginary) superiority to anyone they can find. Makes them sound as though they've never been anywhere. Those antics tend to sour me on the place.
