We're electing electors to elect the president.

So how again does that solve the "dumb" problem, by adding another step?

Listen I appreciate the non-conventional ideas, I really do.

I'm just not sure it's going to accomplish what you hope it does.

By putting in that extra step, you remove the relationship between the people and the presidential candidates, and with SuperPACs, awkward Herman Cain commercials, empty promises, consolidated attention to "swing states", and a whole host of other ailments that inflict our presidential election process.

So, the electors won't be swayed by the PR campaign that the masses would be--that's the idea?

Right because, in theory, the electors won't be average Joes. They would be professors, lawyers, business people, police officers, and other people of high character and intellect that we the people chose earlier.

You know what this reminds me of? The idea of having professional jurors in this country. The idea is kind of the same.
