The cops here are being reformed, also. Once Jim Letten started investigating them, they started acting right. Well, half of them got fired or indicted, and the rest straightened up.
I never even see the party scene anymore. I mean, Bourbon street is here - I can see it from my desk in fact. But, I never go there. I go to a few of the bars in restaurants around the city. But, I've outgrown the Bourbon Stree, Mardi Gras thing.
As for the culture, it's the same pretty much anywhere. We've got our rednecks and welfare babies. But, really no more or less than other places I've been. In fact, the LA Medicaid population is the same as New York's.
