I've changed my views, also.
I used to have pretty firmly-held beliefs, based upon convictions and ideals. Now, my beliefs change depending upon what is best for my wallet.
For instance, I used to advocate that I was OK with higher taxes, so long as it went to bring down the debt. But, since this "fiscal cliff" deal allowed my taxes to go up a few thousand dollars this year, and I can no longer afford the really nice kitchen remodel that I want, I'm changing my tune. Because I don't think that we're going to do anything to meanungfully bring down the debt (not a reality at this time), I think that there should be no tax increases. Just cut spending.
I want my kitchen, dammit. And, I'm about 98% serious. Make that 99%.
