Facebook, Babies, and 20 Year Olds

If you are between the ages 18-25, you have probably noticed a lot of 'friends' are starting to get hitched and have babies - perhaps not in that order.

My question is one of ethics: is it bad to take bets on when the divorces and baby-mama problems arise? I'm giving it 3-5 years. If Facebook is still around, the drama will be epic.

Meanwhile I'm stuffing money into my interest-bearing accounts and laughing. While drunk.

Facebook is going to help facilitate it being a self fulfilling prophecy. Nothing like being a few mouse clicks away from one's old flames.

Average age for spawning these days is more like 27-29, last I heard. Maybe people can get their first marriage over with before they start reproducing during the next one.

What I'm waiting for is the point at which someone on facebook saves the world from a giant meteor, posts about it on facebook, goes to sell his or her life story and finds that facebook actually owns it.

well it's true to some extent. i do agree that modern western society is highly narcissistic. but he does take it to extremes as spider points out. still, a lot of what it says is fair

I did think putting blame on technology itself was excessive. The technology is just the way the information is conveyed. The underlying problem is too much junk information creating a false expectation or encouraging impulsivity. If people's internal dialogue is altered, like say they imagine a "soundtrack" for their life as they go through the day, then I think there is definitely some degree of delusion happening there. Yeah, everyone day dreams from time to time but I think there is really a lot of people out there that have a completely mistaken view of what they are entitled to from society and really just don't have any idea what they are doing.

I'm the only parent I know who has brought up her children to believe they are not particularly special.
